In the English countryside, an experimental agricultural device meant to control insect pests inadvertently reanimates the recently dead, who rise and begin attacking the living. Two travelers caught in the outbreak are wrongly blamed for the resulting murders by a hostile, close-minded police inspector, forcing them to survive both the undead and the law.
