Settled into peaceful life at a Thai monastery, John Rambo is pulled back into action when his old commander, Colonel Trautman, is captured by Soviet forces while supporting Afghan resistance fighters against the USSR. Rambo travels alone into Afghanistan, earns the trust of the Mujahideen, and leads an assault to free Trautman and cripple the Soviet base. At the time of release, it held the record for most acts of violence in a film.
