An original 1962 one-sheet for Battle Beyond the Sun, one of the stranger and more historically loaded artifacts in Cold War-era science fiction cinema. The film began life as the Soviet production Nebo Zovyot (1959) before producer Roger Corman acquired the US rights and handed the re-edit to a young film student named Francis Ford Coppola — credited here under the pseudonym "Thomas Colchart." Coppola trimmed the Cold War political content and added two creature-battle sequences to make the film viable for the American drive-in circuit, years before The Godfather would make his name.
