Ib Melchior’s cult sci-fi The Angry Red Planet is one of the most imaginative space adventures of the 1950s, featuring the surreal “Cinemagic” technique that brought its bizarre Martian creatures to life. The UK quad is by far one of the rarest formats for this title, with very few surviving examples, and its striking imagery of the giant alien dominating the Martian landscape makes it especially desirable for collectors of vintage science fiction.

This poster was produced during an era when UK quads were sometimes issued with thin excess backing paper adhered at the factory. Over time this extra layer often separated unevenly, which is why few examples survive cleanly. On this copy, the excess paper has been largely removed during professional linen backing to stabilize the poster, though some remnants remain visible along the bottom edge. The result is a fully secure and display-ready poster, with its bold colors and artwork showing beautifully. A distributor snipe that once obscured part of the lower-left artwork has also been removed, revealing the original imagery, and the snipe itself will be included with the poster.
